Our Bollywood Bride, Sonam Kapoor

The craziness surrounding Sonam and Anand's wedding is all over the Internet and social media. I'm sure by now you've all viewed what Sonam Kapoor looked like for her Mehndi and their wedding day.

While some of us choose to go all bright and vibrant for the Mehndi ceremony, our Bollywood style icon Sonam Kapoor decided to keep it subtle and elegant.

Sonam Kapoor wore a spectacular custom-made gold and ivory lehenga for her Mehndi ceremony, designed by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. The lehenga was made with Chikankari detailing, embellished with pearls and Swarovski crystals. It took a staggering total of 18 months to create! It was well worth the wait; a true work of art.

Sonam dazzled in matching Kundan Chokar, big Jhumkas, Maang Tika and bangles. Sonam decided to keep her makeup neutral and went for a long braided hairstyle with Gajra. Sonam definitely sent out a message to brides to  ‘keep it simple’. Sonam shined bright like a diamond in a look to remember!

Us brides love red for our wedding! So I was so happy to see our Bollywood queen Sonam Kapoor choosing to wear a custom designed red and gold lehenga. The breathtaking bridal outfit displayed Sonams fondness for vintage fabrics and embroideries. It had lotus motifs and broad borders on the skirt.

Sonam’s went all out and wore a dress designed by her personal favourite designer; the one and only Anuradha Vakil. "Sonam and I both have an aversion to bling," the designer confessed. "We wanted to create something understated, worthy of becoming an heirloom treasure." The outfit also included statement jewellery in layers with a large Maayja Patti to complete the bridal transformation by Amrapali Jewels.

Sonam’s reception look was designed by Anamika Khanna and had embroidery with metallic thread work.

She certainly looked stunning and truly traditional.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
