Our Desi Girl, Priyanka Chopra Weds Hollywood’s, Nick Jonas
Priyanka and Nick finally tied the knot and made shaadi magic happen! I have been waiting to write about their extravagant wedding for a while now. So many questions left untold beforehand; which venue; what dress would she wear; what ceremony will they have? The couple’s adoring romance with both cultures coming together to form a tight union of love.
It is known that the couple first met at the Vanity Fair Oscars party and Nick had gotten down on one knee and said to Priyanka:
From then on a romance blossomed and they both attended the Met Gala together back in 2017 wearing outfits by Ralph Lauren. Looking back the photos shared to the world could see a couple very much at ease with one another. All but a year later they were engaged and both their families came together to celebrate. Their love story told in photos displayed to the world on their personal Instagram accounts.
Priyanka declared on Instagram:
"One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other's faiths and cultures. And so planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was so so amazing."
The couple got married last weekend in Jodhpur, India and the venue looked amazing! The ceremony at Umaid Bhawan Palace was adorned in red and gold colours, which shone throughout all the venue décor. I loved the way Priyanka and Nick had chosen pink peonies to embellish the palace for their special day. The couple explained it was important to them to have two ceremonies to reflect both their backgrounds.
On Saturday the couple celebrated their Christian ceremony with Priyanka wearing a custom-made designer dress by Ralph Lauren. Her dress took 1,826 hours to craft which was entirely hand-sewn sequins and Swarovski crystals and two million mother of pearl sequins. The big statement piece was Priyanka’s tulle veil at 75 feet long, which perfected her look. Her groom Nick also wore a bespoke Ralph Lauren tuxedo. It is believed the designer holds special significance for the couple since they both wore Ralph Lauren to the 2017 Met Gala.
On Sunday, the couple had their traditional Indian ceremony and Priyanka opted to wear a deep red lehenga by the one and only Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherji. The dress took 3,720 hours to create and wow was it worth it! Nick wore a turban and sherwani in gold with matching shoes.
The wedding reception took place in Dehli with 500 guests and various live performances in a fusion of Hollywood and Bollywood.
Looking at Priyanka and Nick’s journey, it’s clear to see true love shines through and magical memories created with the union of love will break all borders. Many congratulations to the happy couple!
